"Scallops"
Martins Fish Company in west Ocean City recently invited it's patrons to see how scallops are shucked, and explain a few things about the critter and its fishery. It was a very interesting demonstration and quite instructional.

Scallops are given a salt water rinse after shucking and put in cloth bags that weigh fifty pounds. Each boat can catch 400 lbs per day, but they are only given a certain number of days to fish......and the scallop grounds are closed for a year at a time to allow propagation.
